BTU and Harada Corporation Join Forces to Restore Ukrainian Soil

On October 24, 2024, during the annual ABIM biocontrol producers' meeting in Basel, Switzerland, the biotech company BTU and Japan's Harada Corporation signed a memorandum of cooperation to restore and maintain soil fertility. They will use soil-preserving technologies and methodologies to evaluate soil microorganism activity and functional diversity, share data, and publicize results to promote effective solutions and methods for assessing soil biodiversity.

The partnership will focus on researching soil microorganism activity and diversity using the unique BIOTREX technology. This advanced method allows for soil assessment and the development of effective restoration strategies.

Hiroyoshi Nachi, BIOTREX Project Manager, Harada Corporation

"Biotrex technology is very popular in Japan and worldwide as it demonstrates the positive impact of soil-preserving practices that support soil restoration. Harada Corporation and BTU have been collaborating for over two years to research soil microorganism activity and functional diversity through the BIOTREX technology, presenting effective solutions for restoring soil biodiversity and maintaining soil health. Signing this memorandum will help advance BIOTREX as a new informative indicator designed to assess soil microorganism activity and functional diversity."

Vladyslav Bolokhovsky, CEO of BTU

"In partnership with Harada Corporation, we have studied both Ukrainian and European soils and noted a correlation in the soil microbiome based on regenerative practices used. The application of BTU's bioproducts in agricultural technologies according to this method has shown improvements in soil biodiversity and microorganism activity indices, reflecting improved soil health. Microorganisms play a crucial role in maintaining soil fertility and plant health. We are implementing biotechnological solutions, conducting reliable research, and keeping the soil alive."
