LIPOSAM is something more than adhesive

In recent years, we have been witnessing significant changes in the climate requiring the development and improvement of the existing farming systems, because it is becoming more and more difficult to preserve the harvest. The market offers such a range of products and services that it is difficult to understand what cultivation technologies will work better and how to reduce the cost of production without losing product quality and volume.

Adhesives are of great importance for reducing the cost and improving the effectiveness of plant protection products that help to fix a spray material of plant protection products on the leaf surface and seeds, as well as to prevent their run down and prolong their effect.

One of the best adhesives on the market today is LIPOSAM. Thanks to its unique formula, which includes an exopolysaccharide, LIPOSAM can function as a carrier-adhesive for plant protection and nutrition products and as a bio-glue for pods of rapeseed and other cruciferous, in particular mustard, legumes, flax and others. In this article we will talk about the properties of the adhesive LIPOSAM.

Synthetic adhesives typically contain polyvinyl alcohol and carboxymethylcellulose sodium salt. Due to this, a continuous film is formed on the leaf surface, which partially isolates the treated leaf surface and seeds from the environment. This limits the processes of photosynthesis, respiration and moisture exchange.

LIPOSAM, on the contrary, forms on the leaf surface not a continuous film, but a grid similar to an elastic bandage, which retains moisture, does not interfere with photosynthesis and respiration of the plant. This is possible due to its high-molecular architecture of polymer fibers, which are also very elastic and flexible. They gently wrap the plant and thus do not interfere with its growth, respiration and photosynthesis. LIPOSAM needs 15-30 minutes to form an elastic grid and to fix on the plant.

LIPOSAM also functions as an adjuvant. It reduces the surface tension and contributes to the maximum spread of aqueous solutions of preparations on the surface of plants, retention and prolongation of the effect of preparations up to 30 days that allows increasing the effectiveness of plant protection products.

LIPOSAM is highly effective when applied with soil herbicides. This combination has a number of advantages, namely: improves the absorption of herbicides in the upper layers of the soil, increases efficiency and prolongs the period of protective action.

Due to retention of a working solution in the upper soil layers, herbicides are more effective on weeds and their phytotoxicity on crop plants is reduced because most of them germinate from the 5-10 cm soil layer where they are subject to a high concentration of herbicide and the root system of crops (which is below this depth) is not exposed to their negative actions.

It is important to use LIPOSAM with post-emergent herbicides because it fixes herbicides on weeds.

In addition, it functions as a safener-antidepressant due to the absorbing ability of polymers that helps to relieve stress from the harsh effects of pesticides and chemicals. Unlike synthetic adhesives that break the waxy surface of leaves, LIPOSAM affects gently without damaging this natural shell making plants less vulnerable to disease.

As a soil conditionerLIPOSAM absorbs excess salt, improves soil indicators and prevents erosion when it enters saline soil.

LIPOSAM functions in a wide temperature range (from 5° to 50° C) and is compatible with all chemical and biological preparations (fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, micronutrients, etc.). It can be used in a tank mixture, but you should follow certain rules of its dissolution and mixing.

LIPOSAM is used as an aqueous solution. Dissolution is carried out gradually: first, the required amount is stirred in a small amount of water (1:1) until the solution becomes homogenous. After that, water is added gradually in small doses, constantly stirring.

With regard to the sequence of dissolution, first chemicals, micro -, macronutrients, etc. are added to a tank mixture, then the prepared solution of LIPOSAM, and after thorough mixing the biological preparations.

LIPOSAM should be stored in a sealed package at temperature from 0° to 20° C. All kinds of standard equipment can be used for the treatment of planting material and spraying of vegetative plants.

Practical experience

Study of the effectiveness of the bioadhesive LIPOSAM combined with soil herbicide Primextra ТZ Gold (4 l/ha) was conducted in 2018 on sunflowers and corn at Skvyrska experimental station for organic production of the Institute of Agroecology and Environmental Management of NAAS of Ukraine. Soil was typical chernozem, medium loamy, pH (salt) - 5.85.

The combined use of LIPOSAM with the soil herbicide under the difficult arid conditions of the last year spring reduced the weed contamination of crops. The soil herbicide was retained by the bioadhesive in the area of germination of weed seeds that prevented their germination. At the same time, the root system of cultivated plants was not affected by the pesticide. Having no competition from weeds for water and nutrients, the plants had a good start, formed a well-developed root system and photosynthetic apparatus that contributed to the increase in crop yields.

When applied on sunflower crops in combination with herbicide Primextra ТZ Gold at the rate 4 l/ha and LIPOSAM at the rate 0.5 l/ha, the crop biological yield increased by 0.14 t/ha. In the case of increasing the preparation rate to 0.8 l/ha, the yield increased by 0.18 t/ha. Similar results were obtained on corn - the increase was 0.31 t/ha when applying LIPOSAM at the rate 0.5 l/ha, and when applying at the rate 0.8 l/ha, the increase reached to 1.16 t/ha, with the yield at the control field of 11.61 t/ha.

Thus, combined application of the bioadhesive LIPOSAM with the soil herbicide reduces the weed contamination of crops at the initial stages of organogenesis and increases the yields. The increase in herbicide efficiency was due to the good absorbing ability of the adhesive polymers, which kept the herbicide in the germination area of weed seeds, reduced its evaporation, increased efficiency and relieved plant stress from the negative effects of the pesticide.

In 2009-2011, the study was conducted at LLC “Pivdennasinservis”. The study technology included the adhesive LIPOSAM + reduced (by 25-30%) amount of pesticides + micro-fertilizer Ecolist applied to various crops of cereals, grain crops, sunflower, corn and grapes.

Thus, LIPOSAM is a multifunctional biological product, which, in addition to the function of an adhesive, performs a number of other functions that affect the effective use of micronutrients by plants and the effect of plant protection products, providing an increase in the yields and improvement in the quality of grown products.
