BTU Biotech’s Journey in the German Market: Five Years of Strategic Partnership with Agrosolution
BTU Biotech, a Ukrainian company specializing in biological solutions, began introducing its products to the German market five years ago. At that time, the company was looking beyond its home country for a regional partner who could help navigate one of Europe’s most demanding agricultural markets. Partnering with
Agrosolution, a trusted German distributor with more than a decade of experience in biologicals, proved to be a strategic move that laid the groundwork for long-term collaboration..png)
From Trials to Trust
The partnership started with small-scale trials and careful testing of BTU products in Germany. The first to be introduced was
AZOTOHELP® Classic SC, a microbial inoculant designed to improve nitrogen fixation and root development. It was soon followed by LIPOSAM® Bioadhesive, a unique biological adjuvant and stress protector. Both products, though initially met with caution by German farmers accustomed to conventional practices, steadily gained traction as they demonstrated consistent effectiveness in local conditions.“First and foremost, the product must work,” recalls
Stefan Stassen, CEO of Agrosolution. “We invested heavily in testing and trials – it’s a serious commitment. Only when we could demonstrate to German farmers that the products worked on their own fields did we gain trust.”

Building a Presence in a Conservative Market
For BTU, entry into Germany was not only about product sales but also about establishing a serious European presence. In 2019, the company opened a representative office in Germany, led by
Alexander Nerenberg, to support registrations and local adaptation.“Not everybody can build a biologicals market in Germany. It is conservative and trust-driven,” explains Alexander. “You need years of persistence, real data, and strong relationships with farmers. That is why we value working with such an honorable partner as Agrosolution.”
This dual effort – BTU’s scientific expertise and Agrosolution’s market credibility – created a partnership where distribution evolved into knowledge transfer, joint trials, and continuous learning.
Product Highlights: Azotohelp and Liposam
AZOTOHELP® Classic SC has become a recognized inoculant in Germany, helping farmers reduce dependency on mineral nitrogen while supporting plant vigor. LIPOSAM® Bioadhesive, registered in 2021, emerged as a standout success. Developed by BTU’s co-founder Valentina Bolokhovska more than 35 years ago, it combines biotechnology depth with practical value. Used as both an adjuvant and a stress protector, LIPOSAM® Bioadhesive improves pesticide retention, enhances rainfastness, and supports plant tolerance to abiotic stresses.Since its registration, BTU has supplied more than 50,000 liters of LIPOSAM® Bioadhesive in Germany, with the product earning the TASPO Award (2024) and being recognized at the BioAgTech Congress (2025) as one of the most significant innovations in the biologicals industry.

Looking Ahead: Expanding the Portfolio
Both companies agree that this is only the beginning. BTU and Agrosolution are now preparing to introduce additional flagship solutions:
- GROUNDFIX® Extreme SC – for enhanced phosphorus and potassium mobilization
- MYCOFRIEND® SC – advanced mycorrhizal inoculants for root health
- RIZOLINE® SC – rhizobia-based inoculant for legumes
- FITOBACT® – microbial-based plant strengthener.
Equally important is the introduction of dry formulations, such as ECOSTERN® Premium WP (stubble decomposition) and AZOTOHELP® Premium WP, which offer longer shelf life, stability, and convenience for wholesalers and farmers.
“The product market is changing. Training and education are now more critical than ever,” says Stefan. “At the same time, innovations like stable dry formulations make it easier for wholesalers and retailers to integrate biologicals into established supply chains.”
Shared Values and Strategic Vision
The success of the collaboration between BTU and Agrosolution is not just about product efficacy. It is also rooted in trust, transparency, and shared values.
“It’s been like a family over the past five years. We’ve built something real – something that works,” reflects Stefan.
“We deeply value our strategic partners,” adds Dmytro Yakovenko, Head of International Development at BTU. “For us, biologicals are not just a business opportunity – they are a way to deliver impact in agriculture, restoring soils, reducing input dependency, and helping farmers adapt to climate stress.”
Conclusion
The five-year journey of BTU Biotech and Agrosolution in Germany demonstrates how persistence, adaptation, and strong partnerships can bring biological innovations into even the most conservative markets. With a shared commitment to sustainability, science, and farmer trust, both companies are well positioned to expand their impact and introduce the next generation of biological solutions.
“When science meets sincerity, agriculture moves forward,” summarizes Vladyslav Bolokhovskyi, CEO of BTU.
